Well Rounded NY feature

Hello friends, I’m happy to report, that if you didn’t see the news on Instagram, we welcomed our second son on May 20th: Elliot Floyd Jenkins.

My Corner View

A few days before giving birth to Elliot I did a little interview with WellRoundedNY.com where I talk about my maternity style, nursery inspiration,  being a working mama and more. Hop on over and check it out! Keeping this entry short and sweet because I’m currently nursing Elliot and typing with one hand. haha.

Final Stretch

Gaelyn • 2 Comments

I’m in the final stretch now! I’m finishing out my last week in the office. Next week I will work from home for one week. Then after that I start maternity leave whether baby shows up or not! With Oliver, I planned on spending all of my leave with him so I didn’t plan on leaving work until 39 weeks. I figured, hey its a desk job, its not like I’m on my feet all day. My leave is not paid (aside from California state partial pay for a few weeks) and as a first time mom I knew that I wanted to spend as much time as possible with the baby. But little did I know he would show up at 38 weeks on the dot! Luckily for me, he waited until Friday night after work to start labor. So this time around, I decided I should be working at home starting at 37 weeks just in case I have another early arrival. I’d really rather not go into labor at work. But who knows, every pregnancy is different. Maybe baby number two will decide to be stubborn and wait till 41 weeks (dear god, please don’t haha). We shall see. But I’m excited about potentially having a little down time- a little me time- this time around. Maybe I’ll get my nails done. Maybe papa and I can catch a mid day movie date while Oliver’s at daycare! It’s the little things guys. I might never see a movie again.

As my mother said when shes saw these photos “Yeowza! He’s looking ready to arrive!” or my mother in law when she saw this photo titled “final stretch”  said “Literally- Stretch!” Haha.

Baby is measuring exactly as he should be. But Oliver didn’t measure large either so…we shall see, I’m a tiny lady.

Produce Peeps Pup

We are having electrical work done at the house and Kujo.. er… Peeps hates unexpected, unknown visitors so she has been with me at the office all week. As a rescue she can be anxious and unsure and not all too social sometimes. But I have to say she has done a great job all week. Sleeping peacefully under my desk and being pretty open to making new friends. So, good girl Peeps! At the end of my last pregnancy I tried bringing her into the office and she was so weird. I think she was just being overly protective of me or something but I’m so happy with how adjusted she has been all week at work! We went out to lunch recently and snapped a few pic here, pretending we were on Mexican holiday (if only.)

Poor me. Woe is me. Pregnancy is tiring. Pregnancy with a toddler is tiring. Pregnancy while working is tiring. Woe is me. Pity Party. Hahaha. But really though, the general sentiment today was ” is it bedtime yet?” But I imagine you don’t have to be nearly 9 months pregnant to agree with that sentiment.

Loving this look! I can say that right? Is that tooting my own horn? I love that its comfy and cute and best yet, I feel like myself.

Also! The best part might be these jeans. Tip for all you “maternity” hating mamas out there. I highly recommend you look into Target’s selection of “jeggings” (jean leggings). I have a pair with moto knees that I got last fall/winter that are insanely stretchy and  comfy. I recently picked up this ripped pair. They seemed to have changed the format a little bit, the new line is more of a genuine jean (less soft) but still stretchy! This pair is buttoned guys. My pants are buttoned and I’m nearly 35 weeks pregnant. Also – they are rad. They don’t have the “maternity” price tag. And I intend to wear them post baby. What more could you ask for? Run, don’t walk your ass to Target.

Speaking of things to be worn pregnant as well as post pregnant: this top. So comfy and roomy. Perfect for after baby when you still have the tummy weight. Layer a tank under it and its great for nursing. Bam.

Links at end of post.

Invest in a dress

Gaelyn • 2 Comments

It’s my opinion that every pregnancy wardrobe should include a versatile little black dress. You can dress it up or down and wear it a million different ways and no one will be the wiser. When pregnant with Oliver I had one from Target. I wore it to weddings, I wore it with a leather jacket, I wore it with boots and leggings in the fall etc etc. What you spend is not important, but I will say if you want to invest in a piece that you can wear again and again, the little black dress is it.

My Corner View 34 weeks

This time around I’m kind of obsessed with this dress from Chloe Rose Maternity. And to make it doubly worth its value- I can continue to wear it post partum and use it as a nursing dress! I can not tell you how much I missed dresses while nursing. Both my babes are summer born and yet I found very few dresses that were nursing friendly. Not only is this particular Ingrid&Isabele dress functional and versatile, but it is comfy as all get out! Seriously the fabric is a dream. It’s silky soft and stretchy.

Blanqi Underbust Support Tank: Three Ways: Look 3

Gaelyn • Leave a Comment

My Corner View

You guys may have seen me raving about my Blanqi underbust support tank here and/or on social media. I was always curious about the Blanqi tanks but I was unsure about the $70 price tag. Well, this time around after doing some research and reading a  lot of reviews I decided to invest- and I couldn’t have made a better choice. It’s been an everyday staple in my maternity wardrobe with this pregnancy.

So when Blanqi asked if I would be interested in doing a few Three Ways style features for them and some of their products, I don’t think I could have said “YES!”any faster. The first three looks will star my tried and true favorite underbust tank in Winter White.

Here is why I love it:

It allows me to wear non maternity jeans.
As a petite lady, I was never able to make a belly band work. Sure they would cover the fact that my pants were unbuttoned or unzipped but they did absolutely nothing to keep my pants up! I’m 29 weeks at this point and thanks to the Blanqi tank, I only recently had to break out some of my maternity jeans. This gives me so much more flexibility with my wardrobe and best of all keeps me feeling like my sassy self, not a frumpy pregnant lady.

It offers support
Forget weird support wraps and the achey back. Some how or another this tank helps keep things where they should be and offers magical back and belly support throughout the day.

It smooths everything out
I will keep any lumps and bumps at bay and in my case keep that pesky protruding belly button from making an obvious appearance.

And here is my third look- An office appropriate look

Canadian Tuxedos and Paletas

Here’s some photos I forgot to share from a couple weeks ago of me standing around awkwardly with a paleta. Enjoy?

John stopped by my office to visit me for lunch and I took him to my favorite local paleta spot, he was pretty pissed that I had never taken him there before. But all was forgiven with frozen goodness.
