Six Ways Challenge: A/W14: Look Six

Gaelyn • 2 Comments

This last week or so has been so super crazy. Our family just bought our very first house. And with a toddler a pregnant belly and a full time job- you can imagine it’s been busy. We are still living out of boxes but I pulled aside a few basics that I can mix and match until we get more settled. The Protector Lover Mother beanie is an easy small accessory that I can use to make an outfit feel a little more pulled together and, well, accessorized haha. Also, you can’t go wrong with all black right?! I paired it with my LB Crossover tee and a ripped black jean for an easy, edgy, put together look. Now no one has to know that almost everything I own is still in boxes.

This was the last shot we took of the day just being silly- pretty pleased to say I’ve still got jump skillz at almost 7 months pregnant! haha.

Six Ways Challenge: A/W14: Look Five

I’m totally “mom’d” out today with my  Protector Lover Mother beanie AND my Madre tee! For this casual rocker maternity look I’m wearing my Blanqi support tank (which I wear every single day!) which is long enough and tight enough that I can still wear all my favorite skinny jeans (unzipped of course) without anyone having a clue.  I layered this stretchy polka dot tank underneath for a little peek a boo surprise. A denim vest fits nicely under a leather jacket and adds some more texture and detail to an otherwise simple look. And all the layers and options are perfect for the unpredictable LA weather!

Excited about this dress by NOM from Belly Dance Maternity because it’s also made for nursing and I cant tell you how much I missed dresses when I was nursing Oliver so I’m hoping to get a lot of use out of it! If you are pregnant I highly suggest you check out that link because they are having an insane sale right now!

Although it’s shape didn’t photograph well, I love the fun flirty nature of this loose peplum top with a peek a boo back contrasted with the edgier moto boots and PLM beanie. A bold statement lip color really ties it together and I love a deep darker red for fall. In other news,  I’m happy to announce that the weather has finally started to turn here in LA. And by turn I mean it’s in the 60s instead of the 80’s and I actually need a flannel and a beanie. I know it’s hardly a fall season to those of you in the middle of this years first snow storm but we’re pretty excited about it around here!!

Six Ways Challenge: A/W14: Look Two

Well it’s still a sweltering nearly 80 degrees here in Los Angeles. So while everyone in my Instagram feed continues to talk about rain and frost and pumpkin spice xyz, hot cocoa and “sweater weather” – this beanie is my only hope for even pretending it’s fall here. It’s great for those of us that want to dress for fall but we don’t have the fall weather. I will continue to pair it with dresses and pray for rain, or fog or even a breeze. As a California native, I have never truly experienced seasons the way many of you have. With row after row of golden trees, weeks of rain and then snow. But growing up in Northern Cailfornia at least we had fog, and frost and it got pretty darn cold. This last year for us here in Southern California has seen one too many record temperature highs and we are in the worst drought in our history. Don’t get me wrong, 70% of the time, I love our weather, but right now I’m ready to start feeling like the holidays are right around the corner, not summer break. So drink a cocoa in my honor and pray for rain, when it comes, I’ll be ready in my Protector Lover Mother beanie.

I’m excited to tell you that the Little Boogaweezin team has asked me to stay on as a Six ways contributor for the A/W14 line. This time around I will be styling this awesome Protector Lover Mother beanie.

It’s still real hot here in Los Angeles but we can’t resist the lure of Fall and pretending we have seasons. My favorite fall accessory has got to be a good beanie. Personally I especially love it paired with a dress because it adds just the right amount of sas and makes me feel the tomboy I am. It’s the perfect pairing for transitional weather between seasons – bare legs and a toasty top!

For this months Little Boogaweezin challenge I decided to do something a bit more feminine. Even though the shirt is dark and has a bit of an edgy look it can still be softened up. I layered it over a gingham dress and then tied it up to compliment the dresses high waistline and flattering shape. And since gingham is a classic- I paired the shirt with some vintage accessories and hair for an unexpected twist.

For this months Six Ways Challenge I styled the Still Got It Tee with a tomboy rocker vibe. I rolled the sleeves up for more of a muscle shirt look and paired it with leather pants with gold zippers, a simple chambray neck scarf and leopard detailed Betsey Johnson shades. We will just pretend I rode my imaginary motorcycle to work.

If you guys are unfamiliar with Little Boogaweezin they are a lifestyle brand that represents modern moms and their hip babes. They have a cute line of clothes for both mama and littles.

They recently asked me to be a contributor for a new series called Six Ways. I will be styling the same “Still Got It” tee six different ways over six months.

I love this idea and I love the challenge!

Look 1 of 6 is now live on their blog be sure to head on over to see more!
