Happy almost Friday everyone! What, that counts right? I can feel it, it’s coming, it’s just around the corner.
Hope everyone gets to do something fun for Mothers Day, if not for yourself than for your mother or someone elses mother!
Personally my mother lives in the Bay Area so I won’t see her. Luckily I will get to see her when we head that way next weekend for the baby shower her and my sister in laws are throwing for us!
This weekend however we will be spending the weekend with John’s mom. She lives in Carpinteria (a small beach town near Santa Barbara – we were married in the backyard!) I’m looking forward to the visit. We always have fun together and the weather is forecast to be pretty nice. Even though it’s just a short drive away from us, it feels like a little mini get away! I’m gonna pack my pregnant lady bathing suit and hope that we will get a little beach time in as well (since she is less than a block away!)
Speaking of Mother’s Day. My own mother sent me the cutest card ever. I mean the fact that she thought to send me my first Mother’s Day card was sweet enough. If you follow my on instagram you may have seen photos. The card features a 50′s full skirted lady on the front. Her skirt is real fabric. When you open the card you find that the skirt is actually a keepsake handkerchief. How cute is that!?
It’s kind of weird to think of this as my first Mother’s Day. And while I don’t intend to be celebrated it is a sweet thought that people would tell me Happy Mother’s Day. It also puts a whole new perspective on the holiday and my own Mother. Anyhow, I’m a little early on all this Mother’s Day talk, but the weekend is on my mind!
Pregnancy Status: 30 weeks 6 days (tomorrow starts my 8th month!!!!)
Outfit
Blazer: Target ($29.99) I love the zipper detail on this jacket. It actually does zip off if I wanted to sport a crop jacket, but I’m not sure that’s a good look for a pregnant lady…maybe some other time. I also happened to be wearing stretch pants on my way to yoga when I tried this on and I felt like even in stretch pants it dressed it up and made it much more put together and I decided that was a good thing since I may be headed more and more in the direction of stretch pants all the time haha.
Satin/Sheer Stripe Top: A pre-pregnancy Old Navy item
Black Skinnies: Old Navy Maternity
Jewel Bow Necklace: J.Crew
Watch: Nixon (The Kensington) $175
Shoes: Converse All Stars (unbleached) ($45)
Its really just gonna be these or flip flops from here on out I think guys! My little feeties are really getting swollen in this last trimester. Its common given all the extra blood flow and the huge baby is getting in the way of that flow, so it is starting to pool at my feet and ankles. Tuesday night it was so bad that my once skinny toes all seemed to be touching each other and the skin felt like it was being stretched to the max. John got me a giant bowl of ice water and instructed me to submerge my feet in it. I figured this was some sort of sports trick and I had no alternative idea so I went with it. It hurt like hell at first. I mean ice water on your feet is not pleasant to begin with. Then it felt like the cold had shocked all the blood to go elsewhere and I started getting shooting pains up my calves like all the blood was panicking to exit the feet! But once I removed them from the ice they actually did feel better and the swelling went down. I’ve also started adding lemon to the insane amounts of water I drink lately because I hear that can help as well. I’ve already been propping my feet up at work but now I am also trying to wiggle and stretch them more as well.
Lipstick: Kat Von D Backstage Bambi
Earrings: Kate Spade
PS I definitly had an ice cream sandwich treat at lunch and the baby is currently doing a happy dance.
