It’s been super hot here in the Los Angeles area but I can’t help but start to dream of fall fashions. I thought I would share a few transitional looks I am loving – outfits that mix fall peices (like wool hats or booties) with summery items (like shorts or sandals). Perfect for those of us who are still dealing with a bit of heat while the rest of you drink your pumpkin spice lattes and talk about rain!

Oliver Celebrates his 2nd Month
He parties HARD…
Last week Oliver turned two months old. And with it came a lot of emotions. I can’t believe my leave is officially half over. I was a pretty big ball of stress feeling like I had a million and one things that I needed to figure out in the next two months. Facing the realization that I will go back to work soon and all that comes with that. But I have since come to my senses and realize that everything has to happen one day at a time and that the scariest and hardest things are often overwhelming and that “it always seems impossible until it’s done”.
Oliver continues to “fill out” and is becoming quite the tank. It makes him all the more cuddly, which he loves to do lately. I’m hoping hes a mamas boy because I absolutely love it haha. His personality is slowly starting to show through but we are hoping he gets a better sense of humor soon as he only occasionally finds us funny or all that interesting. Hes “doing his nights” (sleeping well). Generally sleeping from 8pm-1am then waking again at 4 and then 6 or 7. It feels like quite the luxury since until recently he was waking every 2 hours to nurse. His hair has lightened up but seems like it will still be brown and although still a touch gray, his eyes look like they will be pretty blue.
And I will also include this ridiculous outtake. Doesn’t he look like a cartoon character? Like hes smoking an imaginary cigar like a 1920′s detective !!! “Listen here, seeeeee….he’s guilty I tell ya”
worlds most adorable onesie is from Winter Water Factory (but it’s currently sold out)

Outfit Of The Day
I have to admit that wearing this outfit made me feel like Stella Got Her Groove Back. Okay, actually, while I am admitting things- I don’t remember that movie- I’m not even sure if I ever saw it. But you get the point. I felt pretty good, which is nice.
Although, we did end up going to the hardware store and I felt a little….overdressed? This weekend we start building a deck in our backyard! We are renters so you may think it’s weird that we are building a deck but we have always invested in rentals because improving them makes living there all the more enjoyable for us! This time we lucked out because not only was our landlord okay with us building a deck, it turns out she has always wanted one, so she is paying for the supplies! If you know anything about our house, you know it is teeny tiny. We don’t have a dining room or much room to entertain so we are hoping that the deck and a little overhang will help expand our living space!
Hat: J.Crew $58
Tank: Old Navy
Shorts: American Eagle (via TJ Maxx)
Boots: Target $35

Cookies n Cream Cookies
A friend of ours had a birthday yesterday and in addition to taking him to dinner I thought I would also bake him some cookies. I’ve always loved the “cookies n cream” cookies from our hometown favorite -Anthony’s Cookies in SF so I attempted to recreate them. I have to admit, I think I nailed it! I posted this picture on Instagram and had a few request for the recipe so I thought I would share it here.
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cup of flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
2 sticks of butter
3/4 cup of white sugar
3/4 cup of packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 eggs
Close to a box of chocolate cream cookies (I used these)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375
Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Pre crumble cookie bits and drop into mix. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
I use a kitchen aid mixer which made my crumbles even smaller when mixing. I prefer to have a few larger bits as well. To achieve this, after rationing out each ball of dough on your cookie sheet, apply a few larger bits on top before baking and push them into the dough slightly with your finger.
Bake for about 11 minutes and get ready for deliciousness!!

Fall Bootie Round Up
Things are still toasty here in LA and I’m actually perfectly fine with that for now, but little things get me thinking about fall fondly. Ankle booties might be one of them haha. I love a good bootie so I thought I would do a little round up of affordable booties (all under $70) I am loving this year for fall. I can’t believe that before we know it fog will be rolling in & leaves and temperatures will be dropping.
I ordered #1 for myself, they haven’t shown up yet, but hopefully I’ll love them. They should be just the perfect touch of “rocker” to dress up jeans and a T-shirt.
